Hi! I am Anthea of Crouch End Calligraphy, a hand lettering studio in North London. I specialise in modern and traditional calligraphy and brush lettering for corporate and social events, keepsakes, and other creatives. I most frequently work with individual and corporate clients to personalise envelopes, place cards, invitations and table signs, and bring to life visions for a love letter, quote or special poem. My calligraphy has been used in photoshoots and for the invitations to a recent royal hen-do.
Crouch End Calligraphy was born in 2017 from a love of all things lettered, an obsession with beautiful paper and stationery, and a deep appreciation of crafts. As an eight year old, I received a basic calligraphy set as a gift. It came with three sizes of nib, ink cartridges and a small handbook. I was hooked. Twenty years on I was getting married and dreamt of elegant copperplate envelope addressing. I was under the misconception that as a ‘crafty’ person with nice handwriting and some calligraphy experience, I could master the technique in the lead up to the wedding and do it myself. The addresses were handwritten in the end but nowhere near as nicely or as ‘fancy’ as I had hoped.
A few years later, I finally had the opportunity to learn from an expert calligrapher. That’s when things really improved. A move from Canada to beautiful Crouch End in London, England, with my young family spurred a career change and that’s when Crouch End Calligraphy was born.
Please get in touch with me here. I am always happy to hear from you.
